Apparently, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud played a factor in the Texans selecting wide receiver Nathaniel “Tank” Dell in the third round of the NFL Draft.
Speaking to the media this week, Dell revealed that he reached out to Stroud heading into Day 2 of the draft.
Dell told reporters, “After he got drafted, I sent him, ‘Congrats.’ Then I was like, ‘Tell [the Texans to] come get me.'”
Stroud simply responded, “Man, I told them I want you.”
The Texans then drafted Dell with the 69th overall pick.
CJ Stroud and Tank Dell’s relationship goes back to the NFL combine.

Dell was an outstanding playmaker for Houston, hauling in 228 passes for 3,155 yards and 32 touchdowns.
The Texans would love to see Stroud and Dell form an instance connection this offseason. After all, they’re not exactly loaded with talent at the wide receiver position.
Rookie minicamp for the Texans will take place later this month, so it won’t be long before Stroud and Dell get to work.
