Biggest surprises on the Houston Texans final 53-man roster.
The Houston Texans are less than two weeks away from facing the Colts in Indianapolis, and there are a few surprises on their final roster that was announced on Tuesday evening.
SURPRISE ONE: Cutting Wide Receiver Noah Brown
Noah Brown was productive on the field for Houston throughout the 2023 season, but the problem was and continues to be his health. Brown missed seven games for the Texans last season and was not healthy enough to participate in any preseason games this year.
The Texans are opting to go with veteran Robert Woods, along with Xavier Hutchinson and John Metchie III.
SURPRISE TWO: Cutting Defensive Back Desmond King
The Texans cut King this time last year while making the final cuts for the 53-man roster and history has repeated itself this year. Houston ended up signing King throughout the later part of the 2023 season and he helped bring a spark to their defense on multiple occasions.
King was seemingly replaced by third-year defensive back Jalen Pitre and former New England Patriot Myles Bryant. If things are not going well during the season, they should have his number on speed dial.
SURPRISE THREE: Running Back British Brooks Makes 53-Man Roster
For a majority of players that go undrafted, they have a very hard time making the final roster. That was not the case for Brooks, who showed out when given the opportunities. Not only did Brooks flash when running the ball, but the main reason for his addition to the final roster is his versatility.
Brooks was being used as a full back at times during the preseason and was seen doing fullback drills at practice. The Texans cut all of their other full backs, which means Brooks could be on the field and blocking come week one.
For now, the Houston Texans have their complete roster but General Manager Nick Caserio is always looking to upgrade the roster, do not be surprised to see some moves before week one.
