There’s been a lot of debate and discussion over star running back Saquon Barkley and his future with the New York Giants. For ESPN analyst Bart Scott, there’s one place that makes sense for him to go to this offseason.
On Wednesday’s edition of Get Up, Scott made the case that Barkley should go to the Houston Texans. He believes it’s a “slam dunk” landing spot because the team has a young quarterback in C.J. Stroud that would be willing to pay Barkley to make life easier on him.
“I understand that the value of the position is different, but there are certain places that can pay Saquon (what he’s worth) because they have the luxury of a rookie quarterback. I think Saquon to Houston is a slam dunk. Everything you can do to support a young quarterback (is there). Environment matters. He’s played with the worst offensive line, with no receivers…” Scott said.
The Texans certainly aren’t hurting for cash right now. They currently have over $54 million in cap space according to OverTheCap and nearly all of their key starters from the 2023 season are under contract for next year.
While it remains to be seen whether Barkley will even leave New York, let alone got to Houston, the Texans are certainly in a position to splash a little cash in the weeks to come.
Is Barkley a good fit for the Texans? Would the Texans be willing to pay Barkley top dollar to play for them in 2024?
