The power looks to be shifting in the NFC East, making it a highly intriguing division heading into the draft. For each team in the division, there is one perfect draft prospect pairing.
Perfect Draft Prospect Pairings for Each NFC East Team
Dallas Cowboys
Adonai Mitchell – WR Texas
Heading into the 2024 season, Dallas is under pressure. The organization can move on from Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott if the team does not meet expectations. Owner Jerry Jones has said the team is “all-in” on 2024, making the draft incredibly important. Over the years, Dallas has landed premier talent late in the first round. While it might be tempting for the Cowboys to trade up for a top receiver, they could stay put and select Mitchell with the 24th overall pick. Adding to the receiver room will become imperative for Dallas since Brandin Cooks is playing out the last year on his deal and Ceedee Lamb will command top-dollar with his future extension. Drafting Mitchell would give the Cowboys cheap talent at receiver and bolster the room with a player who can stretch the field.
New York Giants
Joe Alt – OL Notre Dame
Even with Daniel Jones playing under a hefty contract, the Giants are a wildcard to draft one of the top quarterbacks in the first round. New York, however, has question marks along the offensive line. The team made a few signings in free agency to give themselves flexibility at the top of the draft, but the Giants could use a blue-chip player like Alt. Drafting Alt would give New York a bookend to Andrew Thomas, and allow them to move Evan Neal to guard. Given the injury history of Jones, protecting him becomes a top priority for the Giants. Alt could step in and start right away, making him a perfect fit for New York.
Philadelphia Eagles
Brock Bowers – TE Georgia
Philadelphia has consistently been a candidate to trade around before and during the draft. This draft appears to be no different. The Eagles could be active on the phone during round one and target a blue-chip player to add to their offense. Bowers is just that, and he would bolster this already impressive group of receivers. While Bowers is listed at tight end, he can line up all over the offense and still make an impact. Kellen Moore is creative as an offensive coordinator and could cook up different ways to put the ball in the hands of Bowers. The former Georgia star would give this offense a dynamic weapon and could take significant snaps immediately. His blend of speed and power would make a perfect fit for Philadelphia’s offense.
Washington Commanders
Tyler Guyton – OT Oklahoma
Every year, teams go from first to worst in their divisions. The NFC East is constantly a dogfight, giving the Washington Commanders plenty of opportunity to rise to the top. This would require a solid draft class for the new front office. In Guyton, Washington would get a bookend tackle for their offensive line. The team is poised to draft a quarterback second overall, and this pick would give them a solid tandem to build around. Landing Guyton, however, will likely require moving back into the first round. The Commanders are at least equipped with enough draft capital to make a move like that happen. After watching the Houston Texans turn their franchise around with a solid draft class, the Commanders could follow a similar blueprint and become playoff contenders sooner rather than later.
