Everybody is doing a 53-man roster prediction every week (so is Texans Wire, so let’s not judge!), but what about those guys who barely miss roster cuts? The Texans have multiple players who likely won’t make the active squad because of the position room, but would have just a season ago.
There are countless options to land on the practice squad with an underwhelming showcase in the preseason’s final two games. The Texas must cut 38 players at the end of the month. Multiple players will be without a destination and won’t have anywhere else to turn entering the year.
The best location? The practice squad, where 16 practice slots are up for the taking.
Technically, there are 17 spots given the new International Pathway Program rules that allow each team to add a player who came through the IPP to their practice squad without taking up an official slot.
For the Texans, they have offensive lineman Kilian Zierer filling that void. Who are the other 16 players around Zierer who could hang around in Houston on the practice squad? Here is a prediction:
