March Madness has certainly lived up to the hype. On Thursday night, a pair of No. 1 seeds were officially eliminated.
Gonzaga was upset by Arkansas in the earlier window, as star freshman Chet Holmgren fouled out with a few minutes left to play. Andrew Nembhard and Drew Timme tried to will their team to victory, but JD Notae and Jaylin Williams just wouldn’t back down in crunch time.
A few hours later, Arizona was blown out by Houston. Kyler Edwards and Jamal Shead combined for 40 points.
Now that Arizona and Gonzaga are out of the tournament, there’s a new odds-on favorite to win the national title.
Believe it or not, Houston has the best odds at +350. Duke is right behind Houston at +400.
Kansas, the only No. 1 seed remaining in the field, has +500 odds to win it all. The Jayhawks’ odds aren’t as high as fans would expect simply because they still need to punch their ticket to the Elite Eight.
