Nasir “Naz” Price, the top-ranked freshman in Texas, has been in contact with several Power 5 schools in his home state.
The 6-foot-3 combo guard out of Seven Lakes High School (TX.) and Houston Hoops AAU has already received an offer from TCU after averaging 16.4 points, 3 assists and 3.4 rebounds in his freshman campaign.
“At first, there was kind of like a schedule that I was talking to them [TCU] on,” Price said in a phone interview. “But now it’s kind of we just talk whenever we can, and we see them out in public.”
Aside from the Horned Frogs, Price mentioned that Texas, Texas A&M, Houston, and SMU have all been in contact with the young guard.
Price has no planned upcoming visits, but said he would like to return to the Houston campus.
“UofH for sure,” he said. “That’s my school, I like UofH a lot. I’ve been there about three times, they’ve been showing me a lot of love.”
Price also mentioned UCLA as a school he’d love to build a relationship with.
In terms of what he can bring to a college program, Price highlighted his ability to score the ball, defend, and will to win.
“Three-level scoring and defense,” he said. “Those are my two things that I for sure want to bring to the school that I go to. And overall winning, I want to be a winner. I want to win championships, win my conference, win a natty, those are my goals to bring to whatever school I choose when the time comes.”

“He’s a competitor, very skilled player and hates to lose,” Price’s AAU coach Stephon Woods said. “He’ll bring that fiery edge to any program he goes to. Very skilled scorer, he’s very crafty with the ball and has a good bag. He’s just a freshman too and he still has three years. If he continues to work, he has a tremendous work ethic, if he continues to work the way he does and improve, I wouldn’t want to play hime in four years.”
Woods also discussed developing Price into a more vocal leader, gaining strength, and becoming more disciplined on the defensive end.
“With Naz I just want him to be more vocal as a leader on the court,” he continued. “I want him to be vocal on the court so I’m going to work with him on that and defensively not reaching so much, be solid on defense and of course he has to get bigger and stronger.”
