The most significant transfer portal news for Washington thus far dropped on Monday evening. True freshman linebacker Khmori House entered the transfer portal. The former three-star recruit played in all 12 games this season, earning five starts and over 300 snaps played. House lined up in a veteran linebacker room alongside Alphonzo Tuputala and Carson Bruener. Those two and Drew Fowler are wrapping up their careers due to graduation. Bryun Parham entered the portal earlier this Fall. Those departing names total 1,792 snaps from last season. The linebacker room will return fewer than 30 snaps in 2025 from this past season.

House tallied 35 tackles this season with four pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one tackle for loss. That single tackle for loss was perhaps his most impactful play in a Husky uniform. With their backs to their own goal line, the Husky defense stopped USC on fourth and goal to help secure the victory. It was House who shot the gap to bring down the Trojan running back for a loss and force a turnover on downs. That single play was arguably the loudest Husky Stadium roared all season. House started that game and played 47 snaps, the most of his young career.
We knew that House would emerge as an impactful player for this Husky defense based on what we learned in the Spring and Fall leading up to the season. “He’s done a really good job of understanding what we ask him to do, either fundamentally, technically, schematically,” linebackers coach Robert Bala said in late April. “I think he’s going to have an opportunity to get on the field a lot earlier in his career.” Not only did he play early on, he started five games as a true freshman. House became a significant contributor to the defense behind the veterans.
House was a class of 2024 recruit who originally committed to the staff that’s now at Alabama. When the coaching change took place, House entered his name into the transfer portal after enrolling early at Washington. That was back in January of this calendar year. But he recommitted to the new staff, and it paid off with a successful season. Now, for the second time this calendar year, House is in the portal with three years of eligibility remaining.
