Aggies get their QB for the 2025 cycle
Mike Elko is still in the early stages of piecing together his first full recruiting class as Texas A&M head coach, but he added a some major pieces to that puzzle on Sunday. Just one our after securing a commitment from four-star OT Marcus Garcia, an even more significant recruit committed to the Aggies: Husan Longstreet, a four-star QB from Corona, CA.

Longstreet is currently ranked as the No. 44 recruit in the country, the No. 5 QB and the No. 2 player in talent-rich California, according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. Having chosen the Aggies over a hard push from Auburn (among many other schools), he is the type of cornerstone commit the Aggies needed to really jumpstart recruiting for the 2025 class. Getting a top 50 recruit early in the cycle is good, having that recruit be your QB is even better.
Should Longstreet sign with the Aggies later this year, he’d join a well-stocked QB room that currently includes upperclassmen Conner Weigman and Jaylen Henderson, redshirt freshman Marcel Reed and true freshman Miles O’Neill. But given the nature of college football in the transfer portal era, that depth could change quickly. Weigman could turn pro. Henderson or Reed could transfer if it appears the other will win the starting job. It’s why now more than ever, it’s important to take a QB in every class. Getting one of Longstreet’s caliber is icing on the cake.
The Aggies now have seven recruits in their 2025 recruiting class, with Longstreet joining fellow four-stars Deondrae Riden (RB), Deyjhon Pettaway (CB), Landon Rink (DL) Kelvion Riggins (LB) and Marcus Garcia (OT), as well as three-star OL Joshua Moses. The class jumps from No. 21 to No. 14 nationally following this commitment.
