To the winners’ bracket we go
Well that took years off of my life. While Texas A&M vs. Florida didn’t have a walk-off like the previous three College World Series games, it certainly lived up to the billing. After a four-hour rain delay, the Ags narrowly escaped with a 3-2 victory.

The Aggies scored three runs through the first three innings, but then saw their bats fall silent in their final five frames. Luckily the pitching staff came through when needed most, with Justin Lamkin throwing three shutout innings, Chris Cortez giving up two in three-plus innings of work, and Evan Aschenbeck closing it down with three (admittedly eventful) shutout innings to close things out.
Of course, you can’t talk about the game without the potentially game-saving play by RF Jace LaViolette, hauling a deep fly back from above the fence with one on and one out in the ninth inning.
