Texas A&M OC Collin Klein loves him some tight ends (please be mature, people), and added another one via the transfer portal on Monday from just down the road. Former Alabama and now former Texas TE Amari Niblack has reported committed to the Aggies.

Niblack was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class, and seemed to break out in 2023 for the Crimson Tide, catching 20 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns. But following the retirement of Nick Saban, he transferred to Texas, and it’s safe to say that did not go as planned. Texas TE Gunnar Helm emerged as the starter, and with Niblack being more of a pass-catcher than a blocker, there wasn’t much room for him in the Longhorn offensive rotation. He finished the season with just five catches for 33 yards.
If he’s going to have an impact in Aggieland, expect it to be immediate, as Niblack has only one year of eligibility remaining.
The Aggies have now added three TEs via the portal this offseason, with Niblack joining Nebraska’s Nate Boerkircher and Auburn’s Micah Riley. It’s also worth nothing that A&M loses 2024 starter Tre Watson to graduation and reserve TEs Donovan Green (LSU) and Jaden Platt (Arkansas) to the portal.
