The #dontrankus movement is in shambles
Texas A&M hasn’t finished a season ranked since the 2020 season, but that isn’t stopping coaches from believing in the Aggies under Mike Elko. The preseason USA Today Coaches Poll was released on Monday, and the Ags come in at No. 20.

There are seven SEC teams ranked ahead of the Aggies, three of which (4 Texas, 11 Mizzou and 12 LSU) are on their 2024 schedule (in addition to a non-conference game against 7 Notre Dame).
Of course the Aggies notoriously finished outside the top 25 each of the past two seasons despite starting the year in the top 10, so a preseason ranking means nothing. But the fact that they’re back in the rankings does illustrate the optimism that comes with a new head coach. The Aggies, after all, lead the SEC in returning production for the second straight year.
Will A&M live up to or even exceed their preseason expectations? We’ll begin to find out when they take on the Fighting Irish in just 26 days.
