As you’d expect in a 4/5 matchup
Texas A&M cruised to a comfortable 80-71 victory over Yale in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Thursday night, and now advances to the second round for the second straight year. There they’ll face the 5 seed Michigan Wolverines, who survived a scare from UC-San Diego late Thursday in Denver. Betting lines opened for the second round games on Friday, and the Aggies are the narrowest of favorites, with the line set at A&M -1.5 points on FanDuel.
In the NET Rankings, Texas A&M holds the slight edge (18 vs 23), but Michigan has been the hot team, winning each of their last four games, including a Big Ten Tournament title.
Looking at the recent history of these two teams, it’s fair to say the Aggies are the team more desperate for success. If they win tomorrow, it will send A&M to the Sweet 16 for just the second time since 2017. While Michigan did miss the tournament entirely in 2023 and 2024, they went to the Sweet 16 five straight times (2017-2022), including an Elite 8 in 2021 and a national championship game appearance in 2018.
The game will tip off at 4:15 p.m. Saturday and air on CBS.
