Please just get a win in Starkville
Texas A&M is officially past the bye week, and now gear up for their next opponent: The Mississippi State Bulldogs. The betting lines opened for the Oct. 19 slate of games on Sunday morning, and the Aggies are the prohibitive favorite, sitting at -15 according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Mississippi State is 0-3 in SEC play an has been blown out by several opponents already, including Toledo, Florida and Texas, so the big point spread isn’t shocking. But they also put up a surprising amount of fight against No. 5 Georgia yesterday, throwing for over 300 yards and putting up 31 points in Athens in a losing effort. And let’s not forget that this game is in Starkville, which has been a bit of a house of horrors for the Aggies since they joined the SEC. Texas A&M is just 2-4 at Mississippi State as conference foes, with the two wins coming in 2012 and 2020. Those just happen to be the most successful seasons A&M has had this century, so the Ags pulling out the win on Saturday, while not earth-shattering, would certainly appear to be a good omen.
The game kicks off at 3:15 p.m. and airs on SEC Network.
