No pressure, fellas.
We’re just 18 days away from the beginning of the college baseball season, and to say this is the most anticipated season in Texas A&M baseball history might be an understatement. Returning a slew of players from a team that was one win away from a national championship in 2024, the Aggies are as talented as anyone in the game. So much so that they are officially the CONSENSUS No. 1 team in the sport, claiming the top spot in the preseason rankings from Perfect Game USA, D1 Baseball as well as Baseball America, who released their rankings on Monday.

The Aggies are under the leadership of first-year head coach Michael Earley after Jim Schlossnagle infamously departed for Austin this summer. Earley, a hitting coach for A&M last season, returns the vast majority of the A&M lineup, headlined by Jace LaViolette, Caden Sorrell, Gavin Grahovac, Hayden Schott and Kaeden Kent. Add in the additions of transfers of players like Gavin Kash, Matt Bergevin and Wyatt Henseler, and this may be the most potent lineup college baseball has to offer.
The pitching should be stout as well, thanks in no small part to the return of players like Ryan Prager, Josh Stewart, Isaac Morton, Troy Wansing, Brad Rudis and Justin Lamkin.
But as any baseball fan will tell you, it’s a long season, and this game can be fickle if not downright cruel. The Ags have a team capable of winning it all, now they have to try to live up to that billing.
