The Aggie legacy is off to a strong start
With Preseason All-SEC outfielder Caden Sorrell sidelined for the opening series due to an injury, true freshman Terrence Kiel II was thrust into the starting lineup. The Atlanta native acquitted himself well, both in the field and at the plate, earning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors. Sorrell should return to the lineup soon, but Kiel is making the most of his audition so far and could force his way onto the field elsewhere.

Texas A&M outfielder Terrence Kiel II has been named the SEC Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. The rookie, who started all three games in right field, helped lead the Aggies to a series sweep over Elon after topping the squad with a .500 batting average. Kiel reached base safely twice in his first career game in the Maroon & White and followed that performance with a pair of hits and two RBI on Saturday. In Sunday’s finale, the Atlanta, Ga., native reached base safely in all three plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Kiel totaled three RBI, three runs scored, three walks, four hits and also swiped a base on the weekend. The freshman was also the lone Aggie to record a pair of multi-hit games in the series.
