At least it’s not just us, I guess.
As you no doubt are aware, Jim Schlossnagle left Texas A&M for Texas just one day after taking the Aggies within one win of a national title. Any coach leaving A&M for Texas was going to be a charged topic, but they way Schloss did it so abruptly, and after chastising TexAgs reporter Richard Zane for asking about it the night before, rubbed many the wrong way. And those who took offense weren’t just Aggies. Folks across the sports media spectrum voiced their displeasure at the way the departure was handled.
Pretty pathetic to lecture the guy for doing his job when you’re less than 24 hours from bailing.
But hey, get that bag. https://t.co/hAanLVpBeN

Schloss is gonna get the same treatment Chris Beard got when he left Lubbock. And with the way things went down the past 24 hours, he’s earned it.

Jim Schlossnagle leaving for Texas Longhorns, 24 hours after pledging his love for Texas A&M, according to report.
“I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M. I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again”
Aggies deserved better. https://t.co/9FeyoG041k

And a day later he leaves for Texas. Lol. I mean, at this point college coaches – apparently in all sports – are such hypocrites that it’s got to be a bit right? They’re just putting us on at this point, no? https://t.co/PoWTEi51nU

Given the way this guy reacted last night to a reporter asking him about the Texas job in a very sensitive and respectful way, I can only draw the conclusion that he’s a Grade A worm https://t.co/oUtNgzHi16
— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) June 25, 2024
Seriously? Taking the job is one thing. Going out as he did is an insult to his players and all #Aggies. https://t.co/xONr1aaeuU
— Jerome Solomon (@JeromeSolomon) June 25, 2024
The first thing Jim Schlossnagle should do is call the TexAgs reporter, Richard Zane, and apologize for insulting him about his question about the Longhorns’ job after the defeat. Schlossnagle will never have any credibility again except in Austin.

Hey Jim. It wasn’t “pretty selfish” of the reporter to ask you about speculation you may leave for the Aggies rival Texas. Also, not “unfair.” Some may suggest what’s “selfish” is saying you have no plans to leave A&M when 24 hours later you accept the job with the Longhorns. https://t.co/69iyLuDCel
— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) June 26, 2024
Very selfish of him to flame the reporter who asked about the coaching rumors last night when he knew all along he was going to pack his bags as soon as the plane landed back in College Station ♀️ https://t.co/5bcwOeKOJc

This isn’t the answer you give under any circumstances but especially if your tenure will be measured in hours. @CoachSchloss owes the reporter an apology. https://t.co/YVluBoWZtp

Is this the same guy that was offended to be asked about the Texas job, oh, last night? https://t.co/QZ7T40QUiT

The @AggieBaseball players learned a lesson today. The pitchers risked injury on short rest, and several position players pushed their bodies while playing hurt while their coach was almost certainly flirting with their biggest rival.

Calling a reporter “selfish” while saying you aren’t leaving Texas A&M only to accept the job at Texas less than 24 hours later is wild. Just another example of why college athletes need to look after themselves first and foremost.pic.twitter.com/Xk0MGuTUJk

A note to Jim Schlossnagle:
If you’re ever courted for another job while you’re at Texas… don’t say you’re not gonna take the job, unless you’re not gonna take the job. pic.twitter.com/FENiwXlHpe
— Mike Leslie (@MikeLeslieWFAA) June 26, 2024
The nerve to say “I took the job at Texas A&M to never take a job again” while he was already taking another job is wild. https://t.co/1c4XQ60ojC

I guess one question here would be: How could your staff be focused on task ahead (CWS) when they were clearly negotiating new deals. https://t.co/qtVv0esFQ4

“I left my family to be the coach at Texas A&M,” he said postgame. “I took the job at Texas A&M to never take another job again, and that hasn’t changed in my mind.”
Jim Schlossnagle broke the golden rule of coaching rumors: Never say “never” out loud.

I’m not sure I have seen a coach handle a situation as poorly as Jim Schlossnagle. https://t.co/0K2uXCe6T9

This answer from Jim Schlossnagle is a lesson for coaches in how not to answer job-movement questions.https://t.co/4cXor13jMg

It’s not that Schlossnagle did it..
It’s the way he did it that’s messed up.
— Jake “JBOY” Crain (@JakeCrain_) June 25, 2024
Yall need to give Jim Schlossnagle a break.
I mean who among us hasn’t gotten on a microphone in front of God and everybody and lied about our coaching future while giving a media member grief? https://t.co/SSzrTZi1B8— Kara Richey (@Kara_Richey) June 25, 2024
