Did the Aggies just find their Edgerrin Cooper replacement?
Texas A&M was in need of linebacker help following the departure of Edgerrin Cooper to the NFL Draft, and they might have gotten just what they needed from the transfer portal on Monday, as Pitt LB Solomon DeShields committed to the Aggies.

DeShields played in all 12 games for the Panthers in 2023, making 11 starts. He finished the season third on the team in tackles (58) and second in tackles for loss (8).
He joins an Aggie linebacker corps that features one locked in starter in sophomore Taurean York, but a second position that is very much up for grabs. DeShields will likely compete with sophomore Daymion Sanford and junior transfer Scooby Williams for the job. DeShields has two years of eligibility remaining.
Texas A&M now has a total of 26 transfer additions for the 2024 season, bringing in one of the top portal hauls in the country in Mike Elko’s first season as head coach.
