Big non-conference win for the Ags
Texas A&M got their first big win of the 2024-25 basketball season, as the No. 23 Aggies defeated the No. 21 Ohio State Buckeyes in convincing fashion Friday night at Reed Arena.

The Aggies jumped out to a commanding lead early, were up by nine points at the half, and never let Ohio State get any closer than that. The Aggies stifling defense, strong rebounding and timely shooting had them looking like the better team for the duration. They outrebounded Ohio State, 39 to 33, outshot them from 3-point range 38.1% to 26.7% and outshot them at the free throw line 80% to 72.7%. Four Aggies finished with 12 or more points, with Manny Obaseki and Wade Taylor scoring 15 each, SMU transfer Zhuric Phelps adding 14 and Henry Coleman scoring 12.
In a sport where non-conference scheduling can loom large when it comes to postseason seeding, this could be a game that pays big dividends for the Aggies come March.
The Aggies move to 3-1 on the young season, winning their third straight after dropping their season-opener to UCF in Orlando. Ohio State, meanwhile, moves to 2-1, suffering their first loss after taking down Texas to being the season.
