Washington’s Junior Day takes place this weekend and is expected to host several top recruits. The lineup includes a top quarterback, and several high-profile running backs. In addition, three wide receivers who have already announced their commitments elsewhere will visit this weekend. Four-star Vance Spafford is currently committed to Georgia and he’s expected to be on Washington’s campus this weekend. High school teammates Daniel Odom and Madden Williams are both four-star receivers out of St. John Bosco High School in California. Odom is an Oklahoma commit and Williams has pledged to Texas A&M. Both wide outs are also expected to be on campus March 8th and 9th.
Receivers Visit Washington Junior Day
Georgia Commit Vance Spafford
Out of Mission Viejo High School in California, Spafford is a top 10 wide receiver in the class of 2026 according to 247Sports. He’s tabbed as the number 61 overall recruit in the class, and stands out as a top ten player in his state. Spafford committed to Georgia back in November of last year. But since then he’s garnered additional offers from around the nation including USC, Alabama, and Colorado.
On the football field, Spafford’s speed turns heads and translates into production. Spafford totaled over 1,000 receiving yards on 57 catches with 15 total touchdowns as a junior. He also blocked two punts on special teams. His sophomore statistics were his best. In 2023, he hauled in 22 touchdowns on 83 catches for 1,576 receiving yards. All three of which were career highs. Spafford’s personal best 100-meter dash is 10.69 seconds, and his speed is a big part of his game out wide. The four-star wide receiver is 5’-11” and 185 pounds, making him an ideal slot target at the next level. With the way the Husky offense utilizes slot receivers, Spafford is an intriguing target for this staff. Washington will work to influence him at Junior Day.
Oklahoma Commit Daniel Odom
Oklahoma landed the commitment of Odom in late January of this year. He’s listed as a four-star receiver and inside the top 50 at his position nationally according to 247Sports. Odom plays at St. John Bosco, one of the seven Trinity League high school programs in Southern California.
Prior to his commitment to play for Oklahoma, Odom listed Washington in his final six. It was a list that included Texas, Tennessee, Oregon, and Miami in addition to the Huskies and Sooners. Odom competed at the Rivals Camp Series in Los Angeles recently, and his performance earned him a “Gold Ball” as one of the camp’s top performers.
As a junior, Odom caught 45 passes at St. John Bosco for 682 yards and five touchdowns. He has over 1,300 career receiving yards and 12 reception touchdowns. He’s listed at 6’-1” and 178 pounds. Huskies’ wide receiver coach Kevin Cummings visited Odom during the January contact period a few months ago. Washington is continuing its pursuit of the junior wide receiver, and they’ll have an opportunity during Junior Day to sway his decision.
Texas A&M Commit Madden Williams
St. John Bosco finished the 2024 season second in the state of California with an 11-2 record. Much of that had to do with the talent the program has at wide receiver. In addition to Odom, they have another four-star out wide in Williams. The California native committed to Texas A&M in late December. However, his final list of six contenders did not include the Huskies. He chose between Arizona State, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, and the Aggies.
As a junior, Williams caught 50 passes for 851 yards and 13 touchdowns. Like Odom, Williams is 6’-1” and around the same weight at 185 pounds. His tape shows that he’s a player who can create separation off the line. Williams has very solid hands and isn’t afraid to extend them to make tough catches over the middle. Though the Huskies weren’t among his final group, Washington has an opportunity to make their case this weekend at Junior Day.
