
Some of these are neat. Some decidedly less so.
Texas A&M’s football season has been over for nearly a month now after finishing with an 8-5 record and a Las Vegas Bowl loss to USC. So as an A&M-centered website, it’s time for us to sit quietly on the sidelines shoehorn A&M into any an every conversation even when it makes little to no sense.
With that in mind, we tried to find any and every A&M tie-in with tonight’s National Championship game, as Ohio State takes on Notre Dame. Enjoy (actually, some of these you most certainly will not enjoy).
- Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard played his previous two seasons at Duke under now-A&M head coach Mike Elko
- Ohio State QB Will Howard played his previous two seasons at Kansas State under now-A&M OC Collin Klein
- Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love was heavily recruited by Texas A&M, visiting campus multiple times before committing to Notre Dame as a member of the 2023 recruiting class
- Notre Dame RB Jadarian Price, who grew up in Denison, TX, was not offered by Texas A&M out of high school
- Ohio State Athletic Director Ross Bjork held the same position at Texas A&M from 2019-2024
- Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day was briefly rumored to be a candidate for the Texas A&M head coaching job following the firing of Jimbo Fisher in November 2023
- Texas A&M Head Coach Mike Elko was the DC at Notre Dame in 2017
- Notre Dame opened their 2024 season with a 23-13 win over Texas A&M at Kyle Field, and the two teams will play again in South Bend on Sept. 15, 2025
- Texas A&M and Ohio State are both land-grand schools
- Ohio State’s Horseshoe and A&M’s Kyle Field are two of the eight college football stadiums with a capacity greater than 100,000
- Texas A&M and Notre Dame both have to battle false rumors that they want to join the Big Ten
- Texas A&M basketball defeated Ohio State in basketball 78-64 on Nov. 15
