Aggies assert their will to begin 1-0 in SEC play
Texas A&M began SEC play about as well as possible, defeating the rival Texas Longhorns 80-60 on Saturday night at Reed Arena. It was the first meeting of these teams as conference foes since 2012, and the No. 13 Aggies made a statement in front of the home crowd.

The game was tied 37-37 at halftime with Texas having a lot of success from beyond the arc, but a suffocating A&M defense and an aggressive offense helped A&M seize control early in the second half and never looked back, outscoring the Horns 43-23 in the second half.
A&M finished the game +12 in rebounds (39-27), +4 in forced turnovers (11-7) and +32 in points in the paint (48-16). That’s a pretty fantastic recipe to win a college basketball game, and a big part of what a Buzz Williams team looks to achieve.
The Ags now go on the road for the first time in SEC play, traveling to Norman to take on the Oklahoma Sooners at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The game will air on SEC Network.
