The best games to tune in for while the Aggies rest up this weekend
It may be Texas A&M’s bye week, but college football takes no week’s off. In fact even though it is only Wednesday, you may have already missed one of the better games of the week (Liberty needed overtime to defeat FIU on Tuesday night). But to ensure you don’t miss anything the rest of the way, I’ve put together a viewing guide for the Aggies’ bye week, with the best games for each time slot. Enjoy.
Weekday games (Oct. 9-11)
Admittedly, you have to be REALLY into college football in order for these games to draw your eye, but hey, at least I can say I brought them to your attention.
- 6:30 p.m. Wednesday: New Mexico State at Jacksonville State (ESPN 2)
- 6:30 p.m. Thursday: Coastal Carolina at James Madison (ESPN 2)
- 7 p.m. Thursday: Middle Tennessee at Louisiana Tech (CBS Sports Network)
- 7 p.m. Thursday: UTEP at Western Kentucky (ESPNU)
- 7 p.m. Friday: Northwestern at Maryland (FOX)
- 8 p.m. Friday: UNLV at Utah State (CBS Sports Network)
- 9:30 p.m. Friday: 16 Utah at Arizona State (ESPN)
Saturday games (Oct. 12)
No elite games in the 11 a.m. window, but I’ll list out games featuring ranked teams.
- 11 a.m.: South Carolina at 7 Alabama (ABC)
- 11 a.m.: 10 Clemson at Wake Forest (ESPN)
- 11 a.m.: 21 Missouri at UMass (at UMass???) (ESPN 2)
We all know that Texas/OU is the big dog in the afternoon window, but it isn’t the only game worth monitoring.
- 2:30 p.m.: 1 Texas vs 18 Oklahoma (ABC)
- 2:30 p.m.: 4 Penn State at USC (CBS)
- 2:30 p.m.: Call at 22 Pitt (that’s UNDEFEATED Pitt) (ESPN)
- 2:30 p.m.: Northern Illinois at Bowling Green (Notre Dame’s embarrassing loss vs. A&M’s embarrassingly close win) (ESPN+)
- 3 p.m.: Arizona at 14 BYU (that’s UNDEFEATED BYU) (FOX)
One of the better evening windows of the season on deck…
6 p.m.: Florida at 8 Tennessee (expect Tennessee to roll in this one, but would do wonders for A&M’s resume if they didn’t) (ESPN)
6:30 p.m.: 2 Ohio State at 3 Oregon (MASSIVE implications in this one, both for the Big Ten and the Playoff race) (NBC)
6:30 p.m.: 9 Ole Miss at 13 LSU (one of these teams will suffer their second loss and have their Playoff hopes put on life support) (ABC)
6:45 p.m.: Vanderbilt at Kentucky (In their most recent games, Vandy upset Bama and Kentucky upset Ole Miss. That means either Tide fans or Rebel fans are gonna feel EVEN WORSE about their loss after Saturday) (SEC Network)
And here’s a couple late-night games worth falling asleep to.
9:15 p.m.: 18 Kansas State at Colorado (The Buffs are still undefeated in Big 12 play, so a win here would really solidify them as conference title contenders) (ESPN)
10 p.m.: 17 Boise State at Hawaii (Boise RB is averaging 10 yards per carry and might just be the Heisman front-runner. Any time he plays, it’s worth tuning in) (CBS Sports Network)
