The Southeastern Conference revealed the 2025 schedules for the 16 teams in their conference. While the timing, from a content calendar, is a question on this writer’s mind, it’s never too early to look ahead. (Despite the whole College Football Playoff thing, sorry Alabama, kicking into high gear next week). We’ll have plenty of CFB Playoff coverage for you next week as our Last Word on College Football writers start to preview the matchups. We’ll take a closer look at the 2025 Georgia by directing the schedule in three parts. First, we’ll go “Between the Hedges” to look at the SEC home slate, then hit the road to see how the Dawgs will fair in 2025, and wrap up with something sweet, the cupcakes, err, nonconference slate. So, let’s call the Dawgs and Sic Em.

Between the Hedges
- September 27: Alabama Crimson Tide
- October 4: Kentucky Wildcats
- October 18: Ole Miss Rebels
- November 15: Texas Longhorns
Let’s be honest, the 2024 home schedule was a bit of a dud. Georgia almost went 40 days between games at Sanford Stadium. UGA season ticket holders and the secondary market will have a field day with the Dawgs’ home schedule in 2024. Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas will no doubt be contenders for the SEC and a spot in the College Football Playoff. This will be the Tide’s first trip to Athens since 2015. Let’s hope Georgia doesn’t decide to wear black again. Arch Manning will likely lead the Horns into Athens. Many had hoped that the standout quarterback would be the signal caller after Carson Beck, the Spike Squad will have to find their own welcome now. Ole Miss will always be interesting as long as Lane Kiffin is on the sidelines. The Dawgs will look to avenge one of their two regular season losses from this year. The SEC once again did a good job of spreading these games out over three months. We should all be in for a treat.
Road Dawgs
- September 13: Tennessee Volunteers
- October 11: Auburn Tigers
- November 1: Florida Gators*
- November 8: Mississippi State
The road slate on first look appears to be a bit sleepy. Tennessee moving up in early September will have the Dawgs’ attention for sure. Nico Iamaleava will be the lead signal caller in year three of Josh Heupel’s system and the second year. Georgia has had Tennessee’s number in recent years, but they still will pose a viable threat to the Dawgs. What will Auburn be in 2025? Your guess is probably as good as mine. Hugh Freeze has simply been a disappointment. He has another big recruiting class this year, but he must start putting wins on the board to see year four. The Florida Gators improved at year three’s end for Billy Napier. The Gator administration decided to keep him around for year four. Florida will be a team to watch to see how active they are in the portal. The question is whether they will be the picker or have to try to avoid being poached.
Nonconference Lacking Bite
- August 30: Marshall Thundering Herd
- September 6: Austin Peay
- November 22: Charlotte 49ers
- November 29: Georgia Tech*
The biggest disappointment of the 2025 schedule is Georgia’s non-conference schedule. Marshall and Charlotte will have new head coaches, and Austin Peay is an FCS school. Those games could be made interesting depending on whether Georigia comes out engaged or decides to play with its food. Georiga Tech has taken great strides in Brent Key’s short time on North Avenue. We can look no further than the eight-overtime thriller a couple of weeks ago. The disappointing part of Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate in 2025 is that the game will be at Mercedes Benz Stadium and not the historic Bobby Dodd Stadium.
