1985 – Bud Norris is born
In Greenbrae, California, right-handed pitcher Bud Norris was born. Spending the first five years of his career in Houston, Norris compiled a 34-46 record with a 4.33 ERA. He was eventually shipped off to the Baltimore Orioles in the middle of the 2013 season before officially retiring from baseball in 2013.
1992 – Milo Hamilton wins the Frick award
Astros broadcaster Milo Hamilton becoming 16th announcer to be awarded the Ford C. Frick award. He earned the award for his major contributions to the game then and now. He is honored in July in Cooperstown, New York at the MLB Hall of Fame.
2011 – Jason Casto destroys his knee
Gearing up to be the starting catcher for the 2011 Astros, Jason Castro tears his knee attempting to avoid a tag while running to first. This injury leads to surgery, which keeps him out all of 2011.
