1962 – Construction starts
Just a short walk away from Colt Stadium, the old home of the Colt .45s, construction of Houston’s newest stadium, the Astrodome, begins. It opened just three years later in 1965.
1990 – Lockout ends
After 32-days without play, the MLB’s seventh labor strike ends, allowing the players to head to their complex for their mini-Spring Training. With just a couple weeks till opening day, the Astros don’t get much time to prepare before the start of the season.
2009 – Boone misses season
Newly signed free agent Aaron Boone announces he will miss the entire 2009 season and will have an aortic heart surgery. After the surgery was successful, he attempted to return in September, collecting 13 at-bats.
