On the verge of the season, the owners and players work out a series of compromises in order to salvage their 162-game season after a 99-day lockout over the collective bargaining agreement. Commissioner Rob Manfred had cancelled two weeks of the season before the deal was made. The season began seven days late but lost games were made up through doubleheaders and playing on off dates.
