2007 – Bagwell day
Just a day after the retirement of his longtime teammate Lance Berkman, Astros legend and MLB Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell is awarded with his own day, commemorating the things he did in Houston. At the same time, Bagwell was putting on a hitting camp in MMP and other legend Nolan Ryan was putting on a pitching camp.
2014 – Appel gets a major surgery
Former first overall pick by the Astros Mark Appel undergoes a major surgery, getting his appendix removed. With the team confident that he will be ready for Spring Training, they have no problem with the surgery, but he wasn’t, not able to be healthy till the back half of the season, only making 18 starts in 2014.

For a brief time, it was voted that the fans would be the ones making decisions on who gets into the Hall of Fame, rather than the writers. This wouldn’t last long, getting changed back to the writer’s votes in 1970.
