1985 – Wesley Wright is born
In Birmingham, Alabama, former Astros lefty Wesley Wright was born. Pitching eight seasons in the big leagues, six of those were in Houston. In those six seasons, he compiled a 10-15 record as a reliever/closer with a 4.44 ERA and 1.427 WHIP.
2016 – Warren Spahn Award given to Keuchel
In a ceremony held in Oklahoma City, former Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel is given the Warren Spahn Award, given to the best left handed pitcher in the MLB. This award was awarded to Keuchel after he went 20-8 with a 2.48 ERA in the previous season.
