1965 – Greg Swindell born in Fort Worth
The son of four children, Greg was born in Fort Worth before moving to the greater Houston area, graduating high school from Sharpstown. He went from Sharpstown to University of Texas, where he continued to play baseball and continued to dominate, still ranking in the top 10 in multiple different stats. This led to him getting drafted in the first round to the Indians in 1986.
During his 17-year career, Swindell spent four of those years with the Astros and they were nothing short of meh. Making 96 appearances (86 starts), he left the ‘Stros with a 30-34 record and a 4.48 ERA in 514.2 innings. Swindell left Houston in 1996 for Cleveland, where he only was for the back half of that season, before getting signed by the Twins that offseason.
