1999 – Astros deal Ausmus
In a deal with the Detroit Tigers, the Astros send a package of catcher Brad Ausmus and pitcher C.J. Nitkowski to them in exchange for five players, none of which made any type of impact at the major league level. Ausmus would make his way back to Houston soon enough, returning after just two years.
2015 – Astros get Gattis in deal with Atlanta
Trading three players, including pitcher Mike Foltynewicz and two minor leaguers, to the Braves, the Astros acquired catcher Evan Gattis, along with reliever James Hoyt. The Dallas native would end up spending his next four years in Houston where he smacked nearly 100 homers (98) and was a part of the 2017 World Series squad.
