1987 – Local bar offers contracts help
With the Houston Astros and slugger Glenn Davis coming to a standstill in contract negotiations, the owner of a local bar steps in to help. He began a campaign to raise $70,000, the amount that the team and Davis are separated by. Eventually, the two sides would come to an agreement that is about halfway in between what the two sides wanted.
1992 – Gonzalez has an accident with the pitching machine
Not knowing there was still a ball in the machine, Astros outfielder Luis Gonzalez started to pick up baseballs before a ball stuck in the machine shot out and broke two of Gonzalez’s bones. This resulted in him only playing in 122 games in 1992.

A parcel of land was purchased by the Red Sox owner for $120,000 known as the Dana Lands. Soon after, the name would be changed to “Fenway Park”.
