1958 – Juan Agosto is born
In Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, 13-year veteran Juan Agosto was born. Of his 13 years in the bigs, he spent five of those with the Astros, where he went 26-16 with a 3.18 ERA in 261 games. The best year of his career came in 1990 when he was with the Astros when he went 9-8 in an MLB leading 82 appearances.
1976 – Elarton is born
Scott Elarton was born on this day in Lamar, Colorado. Elarton looked to be on a good track in his first few years in the league before a rough 2001 season resulted in his getting shipped off to the Rockies mid-season, leaving the Astros that year with a 7.14 ERA.
1999 – Train
In the midst of building a new downtown stadium, architects make the suggestion to then-owner Drayton McLane that there should be a train placed on the right field wall.
