2005 – Clemens returns from retirement
Coming off his seventh Cy Young win and after announcing his retirement from the game for the second time, Astros pitcher Roger Clemens opted to return to the Astros for another season, this time on an $18 million deal. He ended up pitching three more years before officially retiring from the game in 2007 at age 44.

Reds manager and hits leader Pete Rose has a meeting with the commissioner about the allegations concerning his gambling habits. This leads to an investigation which ends with Rose being banned from the MLB Hall of Fame.
