1974 – Lee May day
With two home runs in the ninth inning to help propel the Astros to an 18-2 win over the Chicago White Sox, Houston Astros infielder Lee May capped off a 5-5 day to help lead the team to a 16-run margin. May was taken out of the lineup by the end of the game, with Astros manager Preston Gomez not needing him to do any more damage.
1994 – Astros break attendance records
In a matchup between the Astros and St. Louis Cardinals, Houston stomps on the Red Birds 15-5 including home runs from Jeff Bagwell and Steve Finley to cap off two four-hit games. In the stands, the total attendance of the game breaks the 50,000 mark for the first time in a regular season game since 1966.
2005 – Matchup of the century
For the first time in over 110 years, the National League gets a matchup that features two 300+ win pitchers as White Sox Greg Maddox came out on top over Roger Clemens, walking away with a 3-2 win. That final run came in the seventh when Sox outfielder Jeromy Burnitz hit a solo shot to put Chicago on top.
