For the first time, the St. Louis Cardinals come to Houston to face off against the Colt .45s and lose 4-3 to Houston. Prior to this, the Cards had a minor league team in Houston, the Houston Buffalo, who played there for over 40 years.

A home run by Bob Aspromonte sets off the Astrodome scoreboard’s first ever home run display in a 5-0 win against the Pirates.
2022 – Pena comes in clutch
After a four-game losing streak from an early Houston Astros team, rookie shortstop Jeremy Pena helped that come to an end with a two-run bomb in the tenth inning to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8-7.
