Jeremy Pena and Yordan Alvarez make their spring debuts
This is a pretty exciting lineup this afternoon. Yordan and Jeremy get their first swings of the Spring. And #1 prospect, Cam Smith, who homered twice in his last game, starts at third.
Altuve is in left tomorrow. What kind of guy is he? Reportedly, he gave away his infield glove to a young fan yesterday. He’s all in on the position change. How many future HOFers are cheerful about surrendering the position that got them to where they are?
Rafael Devers. Do you see how a real pro acts?
With the usual caveat, it’s only Spring blah, blah, there were two really good, under-the-radar performances in the bullpen yesterday, in an area where the competition is wide open and Spring success could get you on the 26-man.
Logan Van Wey and Blake Weiman both threw two perfect innings in relief, Van Wey notching five Ks, and Weiman three. The Astros have a history of creating pitching miracles. This year’s bullpen will need a few. Let’s hope Van Wey and Weiman can continue to walk on water.
Here are the lineups.
