The Houston Astros will host the San Francisco Giants three times starting tonight.
With series one in the books, the Astros take on the Giants in series number two. Tonight at 7:10 PM CT, Ronel Blanco (15-7. 3.31) will make his first start of the season against Jordan Hicks (15-28, 3.93) in the first of three games between the two teams. It’s the first and only series this season between them. Historically, the Astros have a .480 winning percentage when playing the Giants, winning 354 against 384 losses over 63 seasons. In recent years, the Giants have won two-of-three games in each of the past three series.
Most recently, the two teams played three times between June 10 and June 12 in 2024, with Houston winning only the middle affair by a 3-1 final. In that one, Ronel Blanco (6-2, 2.67) earned the victory by striking out eight over six three-hit innings. He gave up one walk and one run, getting 57-of-96 pitches in the black. Tayler Scott, Bryan Abreu, and Ryan Pressly each followed with a hitless inning of relief. The difference was an Alex Bregman two-run fifth-inning single, which set the actual final score. Prior to that, both teams had scored a single run in the third inning, with Jose Altuve’s RBI-groundout and a Brett Wisely (2) solo home run. Mauricio Dubón (two doubles) and John Singleton led Houston’s offense with a pair of hits each.
