Here’s how you feel about the unexpected promotion of Cam Smith
I bet the answers to the question, “Do you approve of the promotion of Cam Smith to the majors” would have been different after last night’s two-homer game. He is currently tied with Jose Altuve in SLG at .449, tied for first in home runs with three, and second in OPS at .745. He seems to be gaining in confidence with every passing week.
And you’d never know he never played outfield before Spring Training. He looks like a natural, with great speed, a rifle arm, and natural instincts. I’ll go out on a limb and predict that in a few years, he could win a Gold Glove as a right fielder.
Of course, the fact remains, he is blocking the development of Zack Dezenzo, and/or, the possibility of a comeback year for Chas McCormick.
