Sean Doolittle has decided to retire from baseball after more than a decade spent pitching in the majors. Doolittle helped the Washington Nationals win the World Series in 2019. He spent the bulk of his career with Washington and the Oakland Athletics. The left-handed reliever appeared in 463 games since making his debut in 2012. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since six games last year because of elbow surgery and more recently a knee injury. Doolittle announced his retirement in a lengthy social media post Friday.
