The home of the Houston Astros could be getting an unexpected name change
After the team announced a “major business decision” is to be made on Monday, rumors started to circulate that it could be a name change of the stadium after a leaked image showing the inside of the stadium shows the video board inside showing that name change to “Daikin Park” “Coming January …”
I am hearing that Minute Maid is removing their name from the Houston baseball stadium.
Rumor is it will become “Daikin Park” for 2025 and beyond. Daikin is the world’s largest air conditioner manufacturer, HQ in Japan.

The name chance could come as soon as the 2025 season and could be the name for the foreseeable future. First reports of this were back in October when Juice Box Journal writer Michael Schwab reported about the name change back in October.
The field, originally built in 2000, started as Enron field after the energy company signed a 30-year naming rights contract before going bankrupt just a year later in a huge scandal. This opened up the naming rights and allowed the Minute Maid, Coca-Cola company to swoop in and sign their own 30-year contract.
These rumors of the company taking their name off the stadium have now surfaced and allowed Daikin to seize the opportunity.
Founded in 1924 in Osaka, Japan, Daikin has grown to become the largest air conditioner company in the world, with over $35B in market capitol. The company opened a 4 million square foot facility in Waller, northwest of Cypress, in 2017, putting them close to the city.
