All five Mets runs come off Miguel Ullola
The Astros and the Mets seemed to be playing a game of who-can-hold-out-the-longest- without-scoring competition, a competition the Astros won, with the Mets breaking the scoreless deadlock in the fourth with one run, and breaking the game open in the fifth with two, two-run homers.
All the runs were scored off Miguel Ullola, who seemed to be lacking the usual velocity on his fastball.
The Astros managed only four hits, none by ostensible opening day starters Jeremy Pena, Yordan Alvarez, Chaz McCormick, or Jake Meyers. However, newly minted Astro Christian Walker was 2 for 2, and prospects Brice Mathews and Cam Smith each had one hit.
The Astros take on the Cardinals tomorrow at 12:05 CT. Hunter Brown gets his first look in the Spring, and Jose Altuve should see his first action in left field.
