The Houston Astros have activated outfielder Kyle Tucker, who was on the IL for three months with a fractured shin. However, it was only recently confirmed that it was a fracture. On June 3rd, when he fouled a ball off his right shin against the St. Louis Cardinals, he was initially diagnosed with a contusion.

Astros Outfielder Kyle Tucker Activated Off 60-Day IL
While it is late in the season, Tucker’s return could mean big things for the Astros. They are first in the AL West, 4 1/2 games ahead of the Seattle Mariners. Before being sidelined with his injury, Tucker played at an elite level with impressive numbers this season. He had 19 home runs, which was second in MLB at the time. In addition, he was sporting a 175 wRC+ that ranked third in MLB, and a 3.2 fWAR, ranked fifth in MLB. The Astros are lucky to get the 27-year-old back. Hopefully for Houston, he can pick up where he left off. Other roster moves that the Astros have made include optioning Zach Dezenzo to Triple-A Sugar Land and designated left-handed pitcher Parker Mushinski for assignment. Tucker will be batting fourth in the lineup this evening as the designated hitter against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Looking at his numbers since June of 2023, Tucker has 40 home runs and 30 stolen bases. If Tucker can come out with a bang, this will help the Astros maintain their somewhat cushioned lead in the AL West. Also, looking forward to the postseason, it will inevitably mean bigger things for the Astros if Tucker can remain healthy. Tucker made his MLB debut in 2018, spending his whole career in Houston. Tucker has three consecutive seasons (2022-2024) as an All-Star. Astros fans are thrilled to have Tucker back, who has earned numerous accolades in his career. He was a World Series champion in 2022, Gold Glove Award winner in 2022, Silver Slugger Award winner in 2023, the AL RBI leader in 2023, and the AL leader in triples (6) in the shortened 2020 season.
